A House Mouse’s Natural Diet

The Portland mouse is the smaller member of the rodents order. They are funny and entertaining to see and the mice in the nature are busy bodies and they scuttle around to fill their inquisitive nature. The mice can be brilliant pets and they are not too expensive or they do not require too much space to keep. The Oregon mice can sit in the hand and can explore the surrounding.

Normally the Oregon mice do live on herbivore diet by nature but they are known to be omnivores. They do eat meat or dead bodies and the mice can also self-cannibalize their tails if they are starving. However, grasshopper mice are the exception since they are carnivorous completely. The mice can eat fruits or grains as their regular diet and this is why the wild Portland mice will damage the crops.

The mice may be kept as pets for companion. They may be loving, playful and they can be used to the handling. The mice should not be kept outside without the supervision since they may be exposed to the natural predators like dogs, cats, lizards, snakes and birds. The male Portland mice have stronger odor compared to the females. The mice groom themselves and they do not have to be bathed. As we all know this fact that wild animals can’t be kept as pets, even then many of us have them at our home deliberately or sometimes, unfortunately! This is the reason why, we all need a service to help us in getting rid of these wild Oregon animals if we are failed to do so by our own. For mice pets, the person should have the cage with the secure door.

The food can be special pelleted or seed based foods that are found at the market. The mice may eat the foods that are known for the rodents such as gerbils, hamsters, mice and rats. For the beddings, they may have hardwood pulp like unlinked papers and aspen. When the Oregon mice are found in the nature, they are herbivore and they can consume anything such as grain and fruits. When they are in the urban set up, they can start to eat any food scraps. In the captivity, they do eat commercial pelleted diet. The mice are the staple diet in many carnivores and as humans; they eat the mice from the prehistoric time. The mice can also be used as foods for birds of prey, tarantulas, frogs, lizards and snakes. There are stores that carry the Portland mice for such purpose.
